The plasti-dip set for my wheels was in the mail today. 4 cans, cards to mask up the wheels, and a free cloth for cleaning wheels (one of the benefits of dipping them flat black is never having to clean them again, though). Unfortunately it looks like it's going to rain soon, so actually using it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Curious, Why Plasti-Dip vs. paint?

Because its easier. Less prep. Screw it up? Just peel it off. No resurfacing and weakening your wheels.

A) Cheaper
B) Can be easily removed if done right.

Don't like that color after a couple months? Peel it off and dip it another color.

My dip won't be here til Friday :(

I can get it off, if I don't like it anymore. And it's a thicker coat, I hope that the corrosion on my winter wheels from the road salt won't show that much. With paint they'll probably still look like shit.

Anyone know if it holds well during cold winters?

Yep my saturday is planned out. Spraying my wheels and my girlfriends wheels.

I can tell you next spring :)
But seriously, VS claims that his wheels still look good after a Canadian winter.

What colour did you choose?

I'm a fellow Canadian, but where I live, the temperature changes can be really quick and dramatic. They have a saying where I live, "don't like the weather? just wait five minutes and it'll change." The problem I worry about is that the quick temperatures might cause the dip to crack.

I went with...matte black base coat, and a copper metallizer over the top of that. My GF is going to do anthracite. Then I got a can of vintage gold to see how it looks on my emblems.

Don't forget to shoot some before/after pics.

I think VS is in Calgary, where they have chinooks, so...

Alright, that sounds promising if VS is, since that's where I am.

I plastidipped my rims last fall, and it held up through one Michigan winter with no issues. The only reason they are peeling right now is due to a direct application of stupidity.

It's also supposed to be more resistant to chipping, scratching, etc... I know some offroaders use it on their wheels. If they decide to sell their rig, they can just peel the plasti-dip off and have wheels that don't look destroyed. Can't vouch for this myself, but I plan on doing it to my Jeep this fall.
